NEW CHAPTERS

They opened books that were closed years ago
Taken out of storage, long forgotten archives
Turned pages fragile as if reluctant to show
Half told stories that had shaped their lives

Eyes glistening with held back tears
Now found relief as droplets found an outlet
Memories of stifled youth over the years
Finally cleaned the slate, repaid the debt

It was time to move on and review
What life had on offer for the moment, for now
But passing years had also added their value
On them both, a gift of maturity bestowed

Loving families, blessings of friends
Children that looked upon them with hope
Much more they received in exchange for what they lent
That helped them smile, that helped them to cope

Their story was in no way unfinished
It had new chapters to add
Roles to be fulfilled, goals to be accomplished
Misery replaced with visions of good times ahead...................
