FALLEN ANGEL
Nameless, faceless, to us an unearthly being
An angel flew above carrying out his routines
His attention distracted by a woman of the earth
Hair so golden, surrounded her face like a halo
The angel flew down to take a better look
Her earthly beauty shone more when up close
As time ticked on, the angel started to tarry
The sound of thunder reminded him he had to hurry
An angel angered the heavens that day
A costly mistake when he erred that day
Her golden curls in the wind did blow
When he rose up, with wings so heavy
She saw a feather fall down at her feet
A white feather, untouched, so pure
She smiled as she picked it up
And pressed it to her heart
The child in her wanted to believe
Maybe an angel visited her today?
As she started to walk away
Another feather fell in her path
A thin red line marred its face
Like drops of blood on pure white snow
